WASHINGTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations hosted international partners during a symposium in Washington D.C. where representatives from the UN-related International Organization for Migration and government representatives from Australia, Austria, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom convened at the agency’s headquarters on Oct. 22.

Partners discussed solutions for addressing shared immigration enforcement related issues, such as removal cooperation, electronic travel document platforms, alternatives to detention, fugitive removals, asylum, and processes for removing noncitizens to their home countries.

Partnerships optimize immigration enforcement and removal processes, deter irregular migration, and maximize foreign fugitive returns and prosecutions. ERO officials routinely meet with international partners and other stakeholders to ensure the agency’s policies and practices are data-driven, fact-based, and humane.
