G7 countries to join restoration and modernisation of Ukraine’s energy sector

G7 countries to join the restoration and modernisation of Ukraine’s energy sector: Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, took part in a meeting of the G7+ Coordination Group to support Ukraine’s energy sector.

During the meeting, updated data on the damage and needs of Ukraine in connection with russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure were presented. A plan was also demonstrated to modernise and protect generating capacity for consumers in preparation for the heating season.

Representatives of the Group of Seven countries noted that, given russia’s attacks on the Ukrainian energy system, it is critical to respond promptly to the situation. To this end, representatives of the G7+ Coordination Group chaired by Italy agreed to identify available and new sources of funding, options for redistributing existing resources, and an immediate search for available equipment to restore electricity generation. They also identified the need to engage private sector experts to advise on the repair and transition to distributed energy production solutions.

The G7+ Coordination Group to support energy sector of Ukraine ensures real-time coordination of partners’ actions to respond quickly to critical needs.

«We are extremely grateful for their tremendous support, especially now that we need effective and immediate assistance. I have focused our partners’ attention on the need to restore heating and improve the security of our energy system. This is especially important for Kharkiv, where the situation is becoming critical. During a working visit to the city together with UNDP, the embassies of Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, France and Poland, we could see how we can prepare Kharkiv for the next heating season,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov.
