The Ukrainian government wants young people to be motivated to return to Ukraine and rebuild it, and for this purpose it is planning to create a multilateral Alliance for Workforce Development in Ukraine and abroad.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Andriy Chesnokov.
“The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has estimated that the labor shortage is 5.4 million people,” Chesnokov said.
These people are urgently needed for the reconstruction to begin today, he explained.
Chesnokov emphasized the need to think about how to bring Ukrainians home, what local authorities and the government should do. According to him, it is important to hear the voices of Ukrainians who are currently abroad.
“In fact, we may find ourselves in a situation where the war will continue and we will have a whole cohort of young Ukrainians who will not be able to realize themselves either in the countries where they have found temporary refuge or in Ukraine. That is why we want to join forces with the Ukrainian diaspora and the international community. We have an idea to create a multilateral Alliance for Workforce Development in Ukraine and abroad so that young people can acquire the professional skills and knowledge that will be used in the process of rebuilding our country,” Chesnokov said.
