FLC National Meeting to Celebrate Innovation and Feature Key Entrepreneurial Luminaries

Cleveland, OH – March 24, 2023 — The federal technology transfer community will gather for the Federal Laboratory Consortium’s (FLC) National Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio from March 28 – 30. During the National Meeting, the nation’s top technology transfer successes will be honored for their work in bringing innovative solutions to the public.

The National Meeting will also feature local keynotes, Candice Matthews Brackeen, General Partner at Lightship Capital and John Nottingham, Co-CEO at Nottingham Spirk.

Matthews Brackeen will discuss funding high growth, minority-led companies operating in underserved ecosystems throughout the Midwest. She is the Founder and CEO at Lightship Foundation, an inclusion-focused entrepreneur enrichment program based in Cincinnati. During the fireside chat, she will be joined by Karen Presley, the Deputy Director of the Office of Research and Technology Applications at the National Security Agency.

The second keynote, John Nottingham, will speak on his firm’s unprecedented success rate. Based in Cleveland, Nottingham Spirk is a leading business product innovation company with more than 1,400 patents, 95% of which have been commercialized. In their 51 years, Nottingham Spirk has produced more than $50 billion in sales for client companies.

The 2023 National Meeting is set to welcome the largest crowd in history, with more than 450 tech transfer professionals in attendance. The National Meeting opens with a full day of workshops focused on federal technology transfer, followed by two days of concurrent sessions

Paul Zielinski, FLC Executive Director and Cleveland native, will be available to discuss the value of this event for the technology transfer profession seeking to move innovations out of the lab and into the marketplace to benefit society.

The media is invited to attend the National Meeting, especially the FLC Awards Ceremony which will honor labs at 10 federal agencies for their efforts in bringing impactful technologies to the public to benefit society.
